Jan 15: Raphael Baron & Maude Bouthillette (Montreal), DJ Mike McCarrel (Portland OR)

This week we are pleased to have a class and performance by Raphael Baron & Maude Bouthillette (Montreal), and our DJ is Mike McCarrel (Portland OR)

Raphael Baron (Montreal)
Raphael's playful aproach to tango emphasizes the subtleties of a deep connection and help dancers discover their musical personas, find their own path to surprising their partners and renewing their dance.
Influnced by his extensive background in martial arts and gymnastics, he naturally grew away from parkour into a more improvised and less dangerous lifestyle choice. While he's based in Montreal, he regularly teaches at various tango festivals in the USA and Canada
from San Francisco to New York.
Inspired, amongst others, by Stéphane Villeneuve, Marika Landry and Tomas Howlin, he's one of the most daring tango teacher in Northern America.

Maude Bouthillette (Montreal)
Maude Bouthillette’s approach to teaching tango focuses on connection, body and space awareness as well as the biomechanics of movement.
Her teaching is deeply influenced by her extensive background teaching and performing in gymnastics and in the theater.
She studied extensively with such modern teachers as Pablo Villaraza and Dana Frigoli, Soledad Larretapia and Ricardo Biggeri but her heart is deeply rooted in traditional tango.
Her goal is to produce dancers who exhibit the elegance, strength and precision of traditional tango and who also move with the fluidity of more modern tango.

DJ Mike McCarrel (Portland OR)
